Xhunt (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our mobile application, website, and services.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to all users globally, including residents of:

  • Canada (in accordance with PIPEDA)
  • United States (including California under CCPA/CPRA)
  • European Union (under the GDPR)
  • Other international jurisdictions

2. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

a. Personal Information

  • Name, email, profile photo (optional)
  • Payment details (processed by Apple, Google, or Stripe)
  • Hunting preferences, property info
  • Contact permissions (if opted-in for marketing)

b. Technical & Usage Data

  • Device ID, IP address, browser/device type
  • App usage statistics and crash logs
  • Location data (if permission is granted)

c. AI-Related Content

  • Messages you send to the AI assistant (used to improve hunting suggestions)
  • Uploads and interactions (e.g., trail cam photos, scouting notes)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Personalize and improve the app experience
  • Provide AI-powered hunting forecasts and property tools
  • Offer weather, regulations, and game movement alerts
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Comply with legal or regulatory requirements

4. Sharing Your Data

We may share your information with:

  • Cloud hosting providers (e.g., Firebase/Google)
  • AI service platforms (e.g., OpenAI)

We do not sell your personal data under any circumstance.

5. International Data Transfers

We store and process data in Canada, the U.S., and countries where our cloud and infrastructure partners operate. For European users, data is transferred under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and safeguarded as per GDPR standards.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data only for as long as necessary:

  • Account data: until you delete your account
  • Analytics data: anonymized after 24 months
  • AI interaction data: stored securely and purged regularly

 

Location Data & Background Tracking

Purpose of Location Access: XHUNT uses your device’s GPS location to enable hunting and scouting features such as displaying your position on the map and recording your path while you are tracking a hunt. Location access is only active while you have explicitly started a tracking session by tapping Track on the Demo Map. When you tap Stop Track, close the app, or end the session, location access stops immediately.

Background Location: If you grant “Allow Always” permission, XHUNT may continue collecting GPS points in the background only while a tracking session is active. This ensures your path continues recording even if the screen is locked or another app is open. XHUNT never collects or monitors your location passively or automatically outside an active tracking session.

Data Storage & Privacy: GPS track data is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded, synced, or shared with XHUNT servers or third parties. The app’s saveMappingData logic filters out all type: 'track' entries before any network sync. Your location data is used solely to render your personal map trail and remains private to you. You may delete all track data at any time by clearing the app’s local cache.

Compliance: These practices comply with App Store and Google Play policies for limited background location use and are disclosed to all users before permission is requested. By granting location permission, you agree only to the minimal and temporary use required to provide the track recording feature.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may:

  • Access your data
  • Correct inaccuracies
  • Request data deletion
  • Object to processing
  • Export your data (data portability)
